An “accredited investor” is someone who meets certain financial criteria and can participate in exclusive investment opportunities.
According to the Ontario Securities Commission, the National Instrument or NI 45 106, an accredited investor has:
Net income before tax greater than $200,000 for at least 2 years in a row
Net assets of more than $5 million
Net financial assets over $1 million
Registered dealer or advisor in Canada
