Carmen Turner

Carmen is deeply connected to supporting the shift to a sustainable society through the power of business. She has worked in corporate sustainability for over 17 years and is now passionate about using this experience to coach others who want to integrate sustainability and purpose into their work and become social entrepreneurs and/or change agents. She does this by connecting people to their purpose, providing tools strategies and resources to help people make better decisions and by modeling social purpose.

After completing her Masters in Sustainability Leadership at BTH University in Sweden, she returned to Vancouver and joined one of Canada's largest corporations, where she developed and led the sustainability reporting practice and a transformational sustainability strategy that has garnered international recognition for its leading approach.

As a social entrepreneur, Carmen is an advocate for clean beauty and the disruptive brand Beautycounter where she mentors other women in growing their own social enterprises. Carmen has collaborated with many international organizations including the United Nations Global Compact, where she contributed to the development and review of UN Sustainable Development Goals. She also had the opportunity to present at the UN Head Quarters on setting corporate sustainability strategies.

Carmen sits on the Board of Directors for the Natural Step Canada, a non-profit dedicated to working with organizations to accelerate the transition to a sustainable society. She lives in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, with her husband, her two young boys and her Vizsla where trail running, mountain biking and being on the water are a daily practice.
